A theme pack usually contains the following things: But this can vary from theme to theme. Currently, you can visit Microsoft here to download the desktop themes. Once here, on the left side, you will see the categories. The themes have been neatly categorized under headings like Art, Games, Holiday & seasons, Movies, Natural wonders, Plants & flowers, and so on.
These are also special pages where you can check out and download the themes submitted by the Community, Panoramic themes for Dual Monitors as well as some which come with Custom Sounds. Windows 7 users will have to click on the Compatible with Windows 7 link to download the themes which are suitable for their version of the Windows operating system. To download any theme, all you need to do is select the category and then the theme. Once done, click on the Download link. Once the download is complete, double-click on the downloaded .themepack file to install it. Once it is installed, your Windows will open the Appearance & Personalization Control panel applet.

In the Windows Store, the themes have been filed under Personalization category and you can go to that section directly by visiting the Windows Store here. To download any theme, all you need to do is select the theme and click on the blue Get the app button. Once the download is complete, the theme will be automatically installed.
