Picture Dictionary in Immersive Reader of Edge
Picture Dictionary in Edge browser is a feature that lets users view an image related to the word when double-clicked and at the same time read it aloud. It’s a part of a multi-sensory processing technique that aids both, reading and comprehension. You can ‘Read Aloud’ the word as many times as necessary. The Reading view in Microsoft Edge simplifies the layout of text and images. This greatly reduces distractions and allows readers to choose how they would like to read online publications.
1] Switch to Reading View
Launch Edge browser and then open a new tab and type the following in the address bar: Hit Enter.
When the option appears (highlighted in yellow ink), change its setting from ‘Default’ to ‘Enabled’ by hitting the drop-down menu, adjacent to the ‘Picture Dictionary in Immersive Reader’ line. When prompted to ‘Restart’ the browser, do it.
2] Use Picture Dictionary
Now, go to a web page to test the feature.
Turn on the Immersive Reader feature.
In Immersive Reader, choose ‘Reading Preferences’, and enable ‘Picture Dictionary’. Reading Preferences helps you to focus while reading by highlighting one, three, or five lines i.e., you can choose to read 1 line, 2 line or 3 lines at a given time.
Now, simply double click on a word and a picture will appear showing you what it means. If you want, you can read it aloud. This is how you can enable and use Picture Dictionary mode in the Edge browser on Windows 10.
