If you encounter a 0x80240024 error when downloading a Microsoft Store app or Windows Updates on your Windows 11/10 computer, follow these suggestions: Let us talk about them in detail.

1] Run Troubleshooters

We first need to run Windows Store Apps, Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer Service Troubleshooters. These are built-in tools that will not only scan respective services but will also repair them. As for the first two, we will use the Windows Settings, follow the prescribed steps to do the same.

If these two troubleshooters are not able to resolve the issue, follow the prescribed steps to run the Background Intelligent Transfer Service Troubleshooter.

You can also press Win + S, type “BITS” or “Find and fix problems with background downloads”, open the troubleshooter, and follow the on-screen instructions and check if the issue is resolved.

2] Disable VPN or Proxy

If you have enabled a VPN or Proxy network, it would be very difficult for Microsoft Store to download an app. It searches for the server it needs to get connected to and then downloads your file. In case, you are attached to a proxy network or VPN, it won’t be able to connect to the server. If you are connected to one, make sure to disable it and then retry downloading. Hopefully, your issue will be resolved this time.

3] Pause & Resume Windows Updates and Microsoft Store Updates

If you are unable to download an app via Windows Store, check if there are other apps downloading or updating in the background. Click on the Download icon and then on Pause all. This will stop any background downloads and will allow your app to be downloaded.

Similarly, Open Settings > Windows Update and Pause Updates. Restart your computer and Resume Updates and see. This simple step has worked for some.

Next up, check if the date, time, and region are correct. Let us first talk about the date and time, to check them, just look at your taskbar. In case they are incorrect, right-click on the option and select Change date and time. Enable Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically.  Now, check if you have selected the correct Region. To do the same, scroll down to Related Links, click on Language & region, click on the Country or region drop-down option and then select your region. Finally, close the Settings and see if the issue is resolved.
