This means that no Windows Phone 8.1 app will be updated in the future. And since Microsoft shifted its focus from Windows Phone, users have actively been switching to other competitor platforms like Android and iOS.

Transfer WhatsApp messages from Windows Phone to Android

This will be a slightly complicated and long guide to follow. You need to be careful throughout this guide because of the fact you will be Interop unlocking your Windows 10 Mobile device. Any damage that you cause to your device will be at your own risk, and neither the author nor TheWindowsClub will be responsible for it – so please be careful. We will be covering this guide in the following parts:

1] Requirements

You will need the following things throughout this guide:

A Windows 10 Mobile device.An Android device.A computer.A good Internet connection.

2] Interop Unlocking Windows 10 Mobile

Make a backup of WhatsApp messages on your phone locally. Open the Settings App on the Windows 10 Mobile device. Navigate to the following path: Update & Security > For Developers.

Make sure that you select the radio button for Developer Mode and select Yes/OK for any prompt that you get. Download the Interop Tools App. Extract the contents of this archive in your Windows 10 Mobile device. Prefer extracting it to the Internal Storage of the device. You will see the following structure, execute the files in the given order:

First, you will be installing the certificate, then the contents of the Dependencies folder and finally the main APPX file for Interop Tools. Reboot your phone and once it starts back, launch Interop Tools app. Select This device for Select a provider for this application session. From the hamburger menu, select Interop Unlock. Toggle the following options on that you get on the new page:

Restore NDTKSvc.New Capability Engine Unlock.Full Filesystem Access.

Exit the app and reopen the same page to find the same options enabled. If they are toggled off, the interop unlock didn’t take place properly. And you need to redo the same steps. If successfully done, you can proceed ahead.

3] Getting all the required data

Attach your Windows 10 Mobile device to a Windows 10 computer. Make sure that the hidden files and folders are set to be visible. Navigate to the following locations in File Explorer on your computer depending on which one works for you:

Look up for the file named as messages.db. Copy that file on your computer. Now, copy the following folders locally to your computer too: If you get the Convert and Copy prompt, select No, just copy. Just move all these files to your Android device.

4] Restoring all the data

Download and install WinWazzapMigrator and WhatsApp from the Google Play Store on your Android device. Open WinWazzapMigrator first. Select the option that says Select Windows Phone archive. Now, navigate across and select the messages.db file that we extracted from the Windows 10 Mobile device. It will decrypt it and convert it to a format that will be readable on Android devices. Move that decrypted file using the File Manager on your Android phone to the following path: WhatsApp/Backups Setup your WhatsApp normally with the same phone number as the one that was registered on your Windows 10 Mobile device. It will find that backup normally and restore it for you. Copy all the Media that you backed up to the WhatsApp/Media/. You will find your WhatsApp account finally migrated from your Windows 10 Mobile to your new Android device. I hope you get it working.
