Microsoft Outlook crashes with Error Code 0xc0000005
The error may occur if you have recently updated Microsoft Office. The Error Code in the even viewer will be displayed precisely as: This is not a problem with the Outlook installation, but rather a bug that occurs when you install the latest version of Outlook on Windows 10 v2004. Microsoft is expected to release a fix soon. But if you are generally facing this issue, here is the workaround.
1] Create a New Outlook Profile
If you do not want to roll back the version of the Office, here is a workaround, however it involves creating a new Outlook profile. Open Outlook in safe mode by typing outlook /safe in the Run prompt(Win +R), and press the Enter key. Click on the Options button, and then click on New. Name the profiler and add your accounts. Then comes the waiting period where you will need to rebuild mailboxes, and it will depend on the size of the mailbox. Once its done, work with the new profile until an official fix is rolled out.
2] Rollback to particular build of Office
If you want to rollback to [articular build number or change your update channel, then you can download and execute the script. The script uses the “officec2rclient” program, and updates to the older version. You can also perform the rollback manually.
Type CMD in the Run prompt (Win +R) and press Shift + Enter to open with command prompt. Change directory to ClickToRun folder
Lastly, execute the officec2rclient program.
When you roll back the Office version, it also affects all the products. Hence it is better that you use a different profile than downgrading the client. And as always, it’s good to install the updates a couple of days later to see if there is an issue that shows up with recent updates. I hope the post was easy to follow, and you were able to resolve Microsoft Outlook crashes with 0xc0000005 error.
