Office MS Mincho & MS PMincho fonts do not show the new Japanese era
You’ll encounter this issue if Microsoft Office has previously been installed but is now uninstalled. MS Mincho and MS PMincho may not be replaced by the updated version of the Office font in the update for Windows. To mitigate this issue, you’ll need to modify the registry. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to back up the registry or create a system restore point before you attempt the registry operation. Once you have carried out any of the afore-mentioned action, you can now proceed as follows.
Press Windows key + R. In the Run dialog box type regedit and hit Enter to launch Registry Editor.Navigate to the following registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
On the right pane scroll and locate the registry subkey for MS Mincho (TrueType) and if the value is anything other than MSMINCHO.TTF, then right-click or long-press on the registry subkey for MS Mincho (TrueType) and select delete.Still on the right pane, locate the registry subkey for MS PMincho (TrueType) and if the value is anything other than MSPMINCHO.TTF, then right-click or long-press on the registry subkey for MS PMincho (TrueType) and select delete.You can now exit Registry Editor and restart your device.
On boot, verify that you can use MS Mincho and MS PMincho fonts and display the new Japanese era. That’s it!
